Protection for International Students

Australia has legislative protection for overseas students studying in Australia. The Commonwealth Government’s Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 and associated legislation is the legal framework governing the responsibility of education institutions towards overseas students studying their programs in Australia. The Commonwealth, States and Territories share responsibility in administering and enforcing the Act. Further details regarding the Act are available at www.aei.dest.gov.au/ESOS.
